Clearville native and Everett Area High School graduate Natalie Dell was part of the Americans' bronze medal team in the Women's Quadruple Sculls rowing competition at the 2012 Olympics in London. She is the first Summer Olympic Medalist from Bedford County and District 5.

On December 29, 2013 PIAA officially celebrated 100 years of existence. To honor this momentous occasion the PIAA conducted a 100th year anniversary logo contest. James Crowder a junior at McConnellsburg High School placed second in the state with his entry. There were 481 student entries submitted for consideration. As state runner-up, Jimmy was awarded $500.00 for his design. Jimmy’s parents are Jim and Beth Crowder of McConnellsburg, PA.
The award winner received his check for $500.00 at half-time of the District V Girls Class “A” Championship Game at the Pitt-Johnstown Sports Center on February 26, 2014. Click here for more information
